Josh Duhamel Back for Transformers 3 - Superhero Hype!
Source: SuperHeroHype
March 18, 2010
While it was expected, it was not confirmed yet whether Josh Duhamel would return as Major Lennox in Transformers 3.
Duhamel told us today at the Las Vegas ShoWest convention that he met with director Michael Bay yesterday, that the script is done and they're preparing to start filming in the summer. So yes, he will indeed be back alongside Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Tyrese Gibson.
Transformers 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2011.

Michael Bay Says Post Production 3D Upconversion “Looks Like Fake 3D
At last year’s theatrical exhibitors ShoWest convention, Michael Bay voiced the following unpopular statement in front of a room full of theater owners: “I think [3d] might be a gimmick.” But after Avatar changed the game, Paramount began pushing the director to produce Transformers 3 in 3D. Bay even showed signs of budging. But it doesn’t look like the filmmaker will shoot the threequel, or even segments of the film, in 3D after all.
Mike Fleming reports that Bay not only investigated shooting Transformers 3 using 3D cameras (concluding of course that the equipment is “too heavy and cumbersome for the fast pace action scenes he shoots”) but the director also sent footage from the previous Transformers films for the 3D upconversion tests. His conclusion thus far is that it is post 3D upconversion is a gimmick. I’m actually in total agreement (you can read my thoughts about the upcoming 3D upconversion of Clash of the Titans here). I highly reccomend that everyone read Bay’s quote after the jump.
“I shoot complicated stuff, I put real elements into action scenes and honestly, I am not sold right now on the conversion process. … I am trying to be sold, and some companies are still working on the shots I gave them. Right now, it looks like fake 3D, with layers that are very apparent. You go to the screening room, you are hoping to be thrilled, and you’re thinking, huh, this kind of sucks. People can say whatever they want about my movies, but they are technically precise, and if this isn’t going to be excellent, I don’t want to do it. And it is my choice. … I’m used to having the A-team working on my films, and I’m going to hand it over to the D-team, have it shipped to India and hope for the best? This conversion process is always going to be inferior to shooting in real 3D. Studios might be willing to sacrifice the look and use the gimmick to make $3 more a ticket, but I’m not. Avatar took four years. You can’t just shit out a 3D movie. I’m saying, the jury is still out.”
Bay also disputes the reported estimated $100,000 per minute conversation cost, claiming that the actual numbers are between $120,000 to $150,000 per minute. This means that a top price conversion of Transformers 3 could cost over $30 million.
I’m sure that the movie studio can easily prove that releasing a film in 3D vs. 2D would likely result in much more than the $30 million up-conversion investment. Bay has a lot of control as a filmmaker, more than most. But does he have enough pull to convince Paramount/Dreamworks into releasing the film as a 2D presentation, possibly leaving hundreds of millions on the hypothetical table?

Exclusive: 'Transformers 3' Adds Alan Tudyk
May 13, 2010
"Firefly" star Alan Tudyk has been cast in "Transformers 3," Paramount Pictures confirmed to TheWrap.
The studio is currently keeping Tudyk's role in the sequel under wraps, as well as the film's general plot.
Tudyk joins series newcomers John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Patrick Dempsey as the latest addition to the human ensemble.
A veteran of Joss Whedon's TV series "Firefly" and "Dollhouse," Tudyk has also been featured in a recurring role on ABC's "V" and recently starred opposite Dermot Mulroney in the pilot for NBC's proposed remake of "The Rockford Files."
He has appeared on the bigscreen in "3:10 to Yuma," "Knocked Up" and "Dodgeball," and most recently toplined "Tucker & Dale vs. Evil," which won the Audience Award at this year's SXSW Film Festival. Tudyk will next star opposite Michael Sheen and Maria Bello in Shawn Ku's school shooting drama "Beautiful Boy."
Director Michael Bay plans to shoot "Transformers 3" at a variety of international locations including Africa, Moscow, China and of course, the U.S. The last two films in the blockbuster franchise have grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide. "Transformers 3" hits theaters July 1, 2011.
Tudyk is repped by The Gersh Agency and Thruline Entertainment.

Megan Fox DUMPED from Transformers 3 | SCI FI Wire
Director Michael Bay has dropped actress Megan Fox from the upcoming Transformers 3, according to Deadline.com. Officially, Paramount Pictures has not picked up the option to have Fox appear in the summer 2011 release, but sources say it was "ultimately" Bay's choice not to bring the outspoken bombshell back to the franchise that made her a star.

Megan Fox: I wasn't fired—I QUIT Transformers 3! | SCI FI Wire
We've been waiting to hear Megan Fox's side of the story, and here it is!
Following the shocking report that she was dumped by director Michael Bay from the upcoming Transformers 3, Fox issued a statement to People magazine last night, saying that she actually left the movie and was not fired. "Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3," her reps told the magazine. "It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best."

And if they think of me now and then, if they don't forget me, then our hearts will be one. I don't need a weapon. My friends are my power!

Michael Bay bekräftar det och säger även att inspelningen börjar om sex veckor i LA.
Michael Bay Confirms Victoria’s Secret Model Rosie Huntington-Whitely Is the Female Lead in TRANSFORMERS 3; Film Shooting Six Weeks in LA
June 3rd, 2010
Michael Bay’s website has confirmed what we already knew: Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whitely will replace Megan Fox as the love interest in Transformers 3. The casting of a model instead of an actress comes as a surprise to no one. I don’t know if Huntington-Whitely can act or not, but let’s be honest: does it matter? (the answer is “no”) Bay and Huntington-Whiteley previously worked together on Bay’s “A Thousand Fantasies” ad for Victoria’s Secret.
Bay also spoke to the LA Times about the extensive shooting the film will be doing in the Los Angeles area. Hit the jump for more on that.
Transformers 3 is slated to hit theaters on July 1, 2011.
The LA Times’ Company Town reports that Transformers 3 should be a boost to the LA economy as the city has lost big budget features to other cities offering better tax incentives. The film is slated to shoot six weeks of its 4 ½ month-long production in the city. The production will travel to various locations in LA including Long Beach, West Hollywood, Century City and Malibu. The other three months of filming will span the globe as the film travels to Chicago, Detroit, Washington and Cape Canaveral, Fla., along with a few foreign locales, including Russia and an undisclosed African country. I hope that despite the numerous locations, Bay won’t repeat one of his many gaffes from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen where the characters enter the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. and exit out the back into a desert. I don’t mind Transformers 3 spanning the globe. It just want it to have a sense of how geography works.
