Star Edward James Olmos is also directing this TV movie based on the series. It films this month and among the returning cast are Canadians Tricia Helfer, Callum Keith Rennie and Rekha Sharma.

Cylon-Centric Battlestar Galactica TV-Movie Prequel Signs Eight Of The 12 Models!!

TV Guide reports that at least eight of the 12 models will appear in SciFi’s untitled Cylon-centric “Battlestar Galactica” prequel TV-movie scripted by Jane Espenson (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Firefly”).

(Note please that the untitled project is not to be confused with the fully titled and already-shot “Galactica” prequel TV-movie “Caprica.”)

The eight Cylon players the magazine confirms for the project include:

1. Dean Stockwell
2. Callum Keith Rennie
3. Michael Hogan
4. Rick Worthy
5. Aaron Douglas
6. Tricia Helfer
7. Michael Trucco
8. Grace Park

Cylons unmentioned are Lucy Lawless, Matthew Bennett and Rekha Sharma.

Previously reports indicated Katee Sackhoff had also been pursued for the cast.

The 12th and final Cylon won’t be revealed until the final 10 already-shot regular “Galactica” episodes hit SciFi early next year. (The fact that Edward James Olmos is directing the movie reminds me for some reason of when Leonard Nimoy was hired to direct the supposedly Spock-free “Star Trek III.”)

I just knew there had to be plans for “Battlestar Galactica” post-TV….

…. And I was right…for the first time, according to my wife.

According to the Chicago Tribune, up to three “Battlestar Galactica” telemovies are in early development. They won’t be officially greenlit until the network knows whether it can logistically afford to do them.

As for what these films will be about? Nobody seems to know yet ("There have been scattered notions floating around as to what the movie/movies (nobody's even nailed down how many) would cover -- and then there's the issue of whether the actors will be around and affordable," one source noted.). What is known is that all three films will be prequels.

Fearing the telemovies may sort-of resemble the ill-fated and forgettable “Galactica 1980” if they fix on events post-Season 4, all three films will be set before the final episode.

If all goes to plan, the telemovies could be filming as early as July.

Battlestar Galactica: BSG TV Movie Will Be The Man Show

More details have come out about the first (and maybe only) Battlestar Galactica TV movie, which may air as soon as this fall. The good news is, it'll be written by Buffy/Firefly scribe Jane Espenson, who just scored a hit with the BSG episode "The Hub." The bad news is, it'll be directed by BSG star Edward James Olmos, who has a track record of directing some of the worst episodes. (But he also directed a fun Miami Vice episode.) Meanwhile, the movie's cast gives some hints about what it's about.

According to Galactica Sitrep, the TV movie has already offered a contract to Dean Stockwell, who plays the atheist cylon Brother Cavill. Other actors that the studio is approaching include Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas, Grace Park, Michael Hogan and Katee Sackhoff. What do all of those actors, except Katee Sackhoff , have in common? Well, they're all very good-looking people. Oh yeah, and they play cylons. Could we be getting some juicy cylon backstory? (But how can we do that without Tricia Helfer? ) Espenson seems to have an interesting handle on the cylon culture, and the fact that the cylons can share memories and traits among different members of the same model. Following up on Grace Park's revelation that a Battlestar Galactica TV movie was in the works, cast member Aaron Douglas has confirmed that the process to get it made is under way and provided some new details. /./ Douglas , told The Chief's Deck that one TV movie (and apparently only one, at least for now) is slated to start production in September. Like Razor, the as-yet unnamed movie will be set in the past: in this case, during the time-frame of the show's first season. (Källa)

The “Battlestar Galactica” TV-movie directed by Edward James Olmos from a teleplay by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" vet Jane Espenson will hit SciFi in 2009 -- after the series finale airs.

As anticipated, the untitled movie will, like "Razor," be a prequel project. (But it is not to be confused with the separate "Galactica" prequel project "Caprica," a pilot movie scripted by Ronald D. Moore that deals with the "birth" of the Cylons half a century earlier.)

The Los Angeles Times has the plot of the untitled prequel:

The stand-alone will document the Cylons' attempts -- those of two agents in particular -- to grapple with human survivors, both those aboard ships and those left alive on planets, shortly after the Cylons' destruction of human home worlds.

Three actors who play Cylons -- Dean Stockwell (Brother Cavil), Michael Trucco (Sam Anders), Aaron Douglas (Galen Tyrol) – have signed on to the project, set to start shooting this month.

Earlier reports suggested Grace Park (Sharon Valerii Agathon), Michael Hogan (Saul Tigh) and Katee Sackhoff (Kara Thrace) were also being pursued for the project.

First of all, Sci Fi batted down a rumor that emerged from a “Battlestar” panel at a convention over the weekend. The rumor was that the show’s last batch of episodes might not arrive until April 2009.

Not so. The target date for Season 4.5 is still January, the network told Sci Fi Wire. Pretty please -- let that date be set in stone. I am not sure I could wait four more months for the final batch of “Battlestar” goodness. It already feels as though January is an eternity away.

Secondly, the second “Battlestar Galactica” TV movie begins shooting on Monday in Vancouver. When the existence of the movie was finally confirmed by Sci Fi a few weeks back, the network noted that Edward James Olmos (Admiral Adama), Michael Trucco (Sam Anders), Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) and Dean Stockwell (Brother Cavil) would appear in it. Olmos is also directing the film, which is Cylon-centric.

But I got to wondering -- who else is in it? A source close to the production said we can also count on seeing a host of actors who play Cylons on the show: Tricia Helfer (No. 6), Grace Park (Boomer/Athena), Rick Worthy (Simon), Matthew Bennett (Doral) and Callum Keith Rennie (Leoben).

Helfer certainly has a full dance card: She’s playing a mysterious spy handler on “Burn Notice,” which returns with its last two summer episodes Sept. 11, and she also landed a role in a mid-season Fox pilot, “Inseparable.” (At left, Katee Sackhoff, Mary McDonnell, "Battlestar" executive producer Ron Moore and Helfer).

It’s a bit of a bummer to learn that Saul Tigh (Michael Hogan), perhaps the show’s most compelling Cylon, doesn’t have a big role in the new film, which will air some time after the show's season finale. My source says that Tigh and a fellow Cylon, Tory Foster (Rekha Sharma), are in the film, but “not as much." In convention footage posted at Galactica Sitrep, Olmos indicates that Chief Tyrol has a good-sized role in the film.

Ah well, I’ll just nurture a (probably futile) hope that one day there will be a third “Battlestar” movie, and that it’s Saul Tigh's Tigh-lon adventure. A girl can dream, right?

IO9 - 3 BSG Characters Have A Dark Secret In Their Past

The more we hear about the new Battlestar Galactica TV movie, the more it sounds as though it'll have to reinvent the show's history a tad in order to make sense. But that could be a good thing, as writer Jane Espenson refashions some old continuity to tell a story about some Cylons on a journey of self-discovery. Star Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) was just at a Fan Expo, and he confirmed which characters will star in the movie, and when it's set. Including spoilers, of course.

We're doing a movie that spans season one and two. It's a story about Cavil and Tyrol and Anders . It's going to be like Razor. It's going to air on TV and then go straight to DVD. It's not a feature film, it's basically an extended episode. We start filming that in September, and we'll finish in September.

Eftersom det lutar mot att den kommer vara ur Cylonernas POV så tror jag nog den kommer bli väldigt intressant. Enda kruxet som jag ser det är att Cylon nummer 3 troligtvis inte dyker upp .

Det kanske var fel ord, men man måste ju inte göra det av sexuella lustar, utan jag tycker nog man kan göra det för man är ett stort fan också . Jag tror dock att filmen klar sig väl utan h*n. Allt beror på upplägget på filmen och när den utspelas.

Jag tror det är just ordet dräglar som får det och kännas aningen smutsigt . Jag tror också det blir bra vilket som BSG är ju så mycket mer än h*n**.

We won't get to see the Cylon-centric Battlestar Galactica TV movie, The Plan, until sometime next year. But actor Matthew Bennett (who plays Aaron Doral, the Kevin Spacey Cylon) brought some script pages from The Plan to the Trinity In Space convention for wannabe actors to workshop with. And they offer some tantalizing hints as to just what those Cylons have been up to all this time, when we weren't looking.

Scene one: Simon (the Cylon doctor) is sharing a cabin on Galactica with someone named Diana, who's a deckhand. (My money here is on Diana Seelix, who was a deckhand before she became a pilot.) Diana is complaining about how Chief Tyrol made her check Starbuck's Raptor. And Simon tells her there's more to life than duty, and she should live a little, since she's seen how everything comes to an end. Simon tries to get Diana to dance with him, and she asks if he's drunk. And then Simon accidentally wakes up their baby. (Simon and Seelix have a baby? OMG!)

Scene two: Anders meets up with Brother Cavil, shortly after becoming the leader of the resistance on Caprica. Anders confesses that he hates being a fighter and doesn't know what he's doing, he's borrowed battle tactics from a movie he saw once. His resistance fighters saved this Cavil model, not realizing Cavil's a Cylon. Cavil tries to soothe Anders, but also tries to convince him that he should forgive the Cylons.

Scene three: Cavil meets a drunk Ellen Tigh in a strip club, shortly before the Cylon attacks. She hits on him, and he reciprocates. She complains about Saul, whom she's decided to divorce. At first she thinks Cavil is nothing like Saul, but then she decides Cavil is just like Saul after all. Cavil is just trying to get closer to Ellen, when the bombs start going off. Cavil says, "This was a bit premature." And apparently, that last line is a major spoiler, because Bennett acted uneasy about letting it out of the bag after the fact. (And there's a hint that Cavil had something to do with getting Ellen on a ship to safety.)

So, the TV movie is supposedly about the Cylons' point of view on the events of BSG, and how they adapted to the fact that humans survived the attacks. I can't help wondering if this means either ___Seelix or Ellen___ is a Cylon. Also, what happened to ___Simon and Diana's baby,___ which is either ___half-Cylon or full Cylon?___ [Melancholy Geek]

Även jag har varit inne ett tag på att Ellen eventuellt skulle kunna vara en cylon, tycker det finns en rad saker som pekar på det. Men å andra sidan så är det så med en del andra karaktärer också så det återsåtr att se åt vilket håll det lutar åt. Den här TV-Filmen verkar ju kunna bli riktigt bra och tillföra någonting till BSG-universumet.

Sci-Fi Wire - Battlestar: The Plan Secrets Teased!

Jane Espenson, who wrote the upcoming movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, said that the telefilm will retell the initial story of the SCI FI Channel series, but from the perspective of the Cylons , and that it will take advantage of revelations that will come in the upcoming new episodes of the show's fourth and final season.

"The events of The Plan are the events that you've seen ... in the show, from the miniseries to almost the end of season two," Espenson said in an exclusive interview. "So it's that chunk of time, but sort of seen with the Cylon perspective. So you're going to see a lot of stuff that was going on that you weren't aware of at the time: on Caprica, in the fleet. ... This was the time when the Cylons, as depicted in the original show, ... were very mysterious, enemies that would come out of the darkness and retreat. And this is ... what were they really doing all that time: What was the internal stuff. ... A lot of loose ends are tied up, a lot of questions are asked that you don't even know you have."

The movie--the second stand-alone telefilm based on the Peabody-Award-winning show--deals with all the mythology's secrets. "If you had a copy now, you might feel that you could go ahead and watch it, because it's about stuff that already happened," Espenson said. "But don't do it. Of course, you don't have a copy now, because there isn't even a cut yet. ... But it's very much designed to be watched after the run of the series, because it definitely relies on stuff you don't learn until much later."

The Plan stars Edward James Olmos, who also directed; Dean Stockwell as Brother Cavil; Michael Hogan as Col. Tigh; and Michael Trucco as Anders, among others.

Espenson said that Olmos was very collaborative. "He and I had a lot of very long sessions of going through the script line by line, Eddie Olmos reading the whole thing out loud, just amazing as, you know, a one-man show every night," she said. "And just like going, 'Listen to this line, wouldn't this be better like this? Wouldn't this be better like this? Are you sure that we need this in this scene?' Just incredibly insightful, just working through it with Eddie, and [we] made a ton of changes in the preproduction phase and ended up with a really tight script that we filmed sort of as they were demolishing the sets out from under us. And [we] ended up with something that I think is so much better than our highest hopes had been for what this movie could be. It really sort of caps off the show."

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is slated to air in June 2009.

Blev lite besviken på the Plan faktiskt.
Kändes som om en del var sånt som hamnat i papperskorgen under klippningen/redigeringen av s.1 och en del var nyinspelat och att resten var flashbacks med sånt som vi redan sett.
Det var inte dåligt men det kunde ha varit så mycket bättre.

Kan bara hålla med. The Plan var en fet besvikelse. Det var inte dåligt och vissa saker var absolut intressanta att få veta men hnadligen var alldeles för spretig och framför allt var det väldigt lite nytt under solen. Jag hade mycket hellre sett en film om vad som föranledde kriget. En sorts Swansea konferens för Cylons t.ex. Som det är så fann jag mig mest exalterad över dom korta sekvenser man fick se av dom andra kolonierna. Där kunde dom också ha lagt mer krut för det har vi inte sett någonting av förut.

Precis, de scenerna från de andra planeterna var ju bra, och så fick man ju faktiskt veta rätt mycket om dom som man inte visste om, genom hon i badkaret där (du vet vem jag menar hoppas jag )

Om jag förstod det rätt så var det bara Cavil och Cavil som visste om vilka de 5 var? De som man fick följa alltså, för jag har inget minne av att resterande ettor visste om vilka dom var innan det avslöjades.

Nja jag tror nog att alla ettor visste om vilka de fem var. Sen hade han/dom väl programmerat bort det från dom andras modellernas medvetande. Jag tror någon i serien säger nåt i stil med "We're not supposed to think about them".

Ett mycket bra pris är det på den också. Dock har jag redan köpt den. Tyvärr var den ju inte speciellt bra, men man "måste" ju ha allt med anknytning till Battlestar Galactica.

Efter att ha sett färdigt tv-serien så var det så dags för filmen The Plan. Här har jag tåtat ihop lite av mina reflektioner av den:

Resumé av tv-serien Battlestar Galactica sett ur cylonernas perspektiv. Så kan filmen sammanfattas. Dock utan styrkan av ett starkt manus som kännetecknade tv-serien. För karaktärerna och skådespelarna finns kvar. Men manuset är lika svagt som min röst vore i en opera och det som kunde blivit en intressant film om cylonerna blev lika spännande som en 2 timmars film om ett grässtrås liv och leverne.

Trist att så pass många scener är plockade från tv-serien. Billigt och fantasilöst kan tyckas. I alla fall när det är så pass många. Gjort utan någon närmre finess, kreativiteten som kännetecknade tv-serien lyser med sin frånvaro och det är uppenbart en efterkonstruktion som är gjord med autopiloten på. T.o.m filmmusiken är en blek kopia av originalet utan någon som helst sisu.

Nej, herr Olmos, du skulle ha hållt dig framför kameran...

Ja, jag kom ju på en positiv sak och det är att det var kul att få se en glimt av de andra kolonierna/planeterna. Hade gärna sett lite mer av den varan dock. Mer vill ha mer

För övrigt så såg jag den på blu-ray, en import från UK, och den var inte bra. Många scener som såg ut som the good old VHS kvalitén om någon här nu minns hur den såg ut
