SAW VII inspelning planerad till januari 2010. Sen blir det en 8, sen en 9... men inte mig emot om de fortsätter i samma anda som hittills

David Hackl (Saw V) är tillbaka som regissör och följande har stått på hans Facebooksida (dreadcentral.com):

"SAW VII 3D pre production begins TODAY!! The story is always the most important thing in my opinion. This time I want it to be a game for everyone. I want to create the effect of feeling like you are right in a trap."

Burg: We’re definitely making Saw 7. We’re starting in January, and it’s going to be in 3-D. The storyline that we started in Saw 5 and carry through Saw 6, ends at Saw 8. Where it goes beyond that, I couldn’t tell you. In my mind and in Oren’s mind, we have the story threaded through Saw 8. After that, I can’t tell you that the franchise will continue.

Dunstan: That helps when writing, though. Even if it’s a small detail, you know that this element has to happen in Saw 7 and this has to happen in Saw 8, so that we know we’re getting up to that point. But, that isn’t to say that there isn’t definitely a clear resolution at the end of each story because there is, especially with Saw 6. Once you see Saw 6, you’ll understand how it’s supposed to end, and then, oops, something else happens and that will lead somewhere.

Så länge handlingen är bra i filmerna, vilken den varit hittills, så kommer jag fortsätta att se filmerna.

Personligen tycker jag att SAW-serien är en av dom bättre och mer smarta filmserierna inom skräckgenren på väldigt länge.

'Saw 7' among Lionsgate brand pushes

NEW YORK -- There will be a "Saw 7," Tyler Perry is a machine, and "Precious" is a passion of ours -- that was how Lionsgate vice chairman put it in describing just how much the mini-major believes in control of content as the basis for the company's growth.

Michael Burns was speaking at the Media and Money conference in New York on Thursday, where he put the accent on branded franchises as the key to competing effectively in the media space. That means making money over a long period and through many iterations of product, he told the audience.

Despite a disappointing performance by "Saw VI," which Burns attributed to getting "buzz-sawed" at the boxoffice by "Paranormal Activity," he said it was full steam ahead on the seventh installment, which will be in 3D.

"As long as we make money on it we'll keep doing this," he said, pointing out that such franchises tend to have a long shelf life across different platforms. "Dirty Dancing," he pointed out, still sells 2,000 DVDs a day for the company, and that's after 20 years.

While the company prides itself on rigorous cost control, Burns said that "passion goes a long way at Lionsgate" as well, pointing to the company's backing of the current movie "Precious" and the Oscar-winning "Crash," which none of the big studios wished to touch. Asked by The Hollywood Reporter's business editor Georg Szalai whether the relationship with Tyler Perry might have an end date, Burns put the accent on all the different parts of Perry's activities that Lionsgate is involved with -- not just movies but TV shows, theatrical plays and other projects and on the personal relationship with Perry.

"He's not an indentured servant," Burns said, but he thought the arrangement was working effectively for both sides. As for Lionsgate's investment in TV Guide Channel, Burns said in addition to more syndie rights (a la "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Ugly Betty") there would likely be original programming, most probably nonfiction series, in the outlet's future.

In short, the vice chair concluded, despite the economy, "it's a great time to own and control content." Libraries, he added, have been dissed of late but that's just because it takes fresh product to keep them dusted-off and viable. MGM? It would be interesting -- the Bonds and the half of "The Hobbit" -- but, he suggested, Time Warner is probably bent on spending whatever it takes to get it.

If you’ve been wondering just what happened to Cary Elwes’ Dr Lawrence Gordon as the Saw sequels toddled along without him, you’ll finally get your answer in the latest outing, Saw VII.Lionsgate has announced (thanks to Latino Review for the spot) that Elwes has signed on to reprise Dr Gordon.

And what happens in the latest bloody horror? Let’s go to the synopsis! “As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw’s brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror.”

Starring this time around are Tobin Bell (but of course!), Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell, Sean Patrick Flanery, Gina Holden, Chad Donella, Laurence Anthony, Dean Armstrong and Naomi Snieckus.

And, after somewhat being controversially being dragged back to the franchise from the helm of US release date competitor Paranormal Activity 2, Kevin Greutert will be directing in 3D.

So the first three cinema rows beware: you will get wet.

Det går ju en massa rykten om att Dr. Gordon lever och att han egentligen är den som är bakom allting, så detta verkar ju bekräfta det.

Den teorin har hängt med länge nu och det vore ju en intressant lösning/väg att ge sig in på. Men det kan ju även bli som när man återinförde Amande i en av dom senare filmerna, jag minns inte vilken, men då var det bara genom arkivfoton från tidigare filmer.

Shawnee Smith confirmed in an interview with Bloody-Disgusting that she had heard she would indeed feature in the fifth installment of Saw. However, she claimed that she was never on set for the fifth film. Smith guessed that her reappearance will most likely be through the use of archive footage that had been previously filmed.

Det känns inte fullt lika intressant. Hoppas att så inte är fallet med även Cary Elwes. Det som talar emot det är väl att han har skrivit kontrakt (om artikeln stämmer).

Vi kan andas ut: titeln är Saw 3D. "The Traps Come Alive" är bara en tagline. Producenterna Mark Burg och Oren Koules reder ut förvirringen:

Burg clarifies, "The title of the movie is Saw 3D."

"The Traps Come Alive" is simply a tagline. Koules notes, "It's a tagline that was added in and misinterpreted. Most of our movies have taglines. One of the things we talked about during the campaign - especially with shooting in the 3D process, the traps really do come alive and we wanted that clear in the campaign. But the title of the film is Saw 3D."

Koules says it would have been too cumbersome to call the film Saw VII 3D and wouldn't have the impact they wanted to make.

"The only reason there is a tagline," adds Burg, "is we didn't want to confuse people and make them think we re-did the original Saw in 3D. This is brand-new 3D technology. We talked about shooting six and then converting it in 3D, but we didn't like the quality of it."

Och, måste jag säga, en eloge till dem som strök konvertering till 3D och bestämde sig för att satsa på kvalitet i stället genom att filma den som 3D.

På Comic-Con i San Diego så släpptes en teaser trailer för filmen, i dagsläget finns den endast på IGN Movies.

Verkar som att denna kommer bli den sista i franchisen enligt producenterna och vilket även hintas i trailern.

Sådärja, då har jag sett filmen på bio. I 3D.

Manus till en åttonde film fanns men då sjätte filmen ej blev någon succé så bakade de ihop åttans handling med sjuans. Tanken var att knyta ihop alla filmerna och visa vad som hände alla personerna. Mao en film som avslutar franchisen.
Jag såg den i 3D på bio, men ärligt talat kan man lika gärna kan se den i 2D. Till min stora förvåning tog de inte tillvara på 3D-effekterna med tanke på att den faktiskt var inspelad med den tekniken. Mycket märkligt. Fick mer känslan att de körde på som vanligt utan att tänka till lite extra om de kunde adda något i scenen som kunde utnyttjas med 3D:n. Och nu menar jag absolut inte att de skulle slänga in effekter i tid och otid.

Ok, men själva filmen då? Nja, mycket har gått förlorat på vägen och jag fick mer känslan av ett hastverk. Mycket politik bakom som såg till att resultatet blev lidande misstänker jag. För känslan och den smarta handlingen från tidigare filmer lyser med sin frånvaro. Fokus ligger istället på att visa så många olika blodiga sätt att ha ihjäl folk på som möjligt. Innan ni protesterar: ja, visst är det så även i de andra filmerna, men där tycker jag ändå Jigsaw har en baktanke med det hela. Ett syfte, om än ett sjukt sådant.

Vi blev lovade en film som skulle knyta ihop dem alla, men besvikelsen blev stor. Ja visst fanns det vissa scener som gjorde det, men alltför mycket fokus låg på Hoffman och hans längtan efter att få döda folk så brutalt som möjligt. Något som stör mig är scenen från förra filmen med lilltjejen mot slutet vilket jag trodde de på någon vänster skulle plocka upp här för annars var den helt onödig att visa.

För att vara den sista filmen i SAW serien så är den en besvikelse, fick inte alls alla svar man ville ha. Och varför dom gjorde den i 3D överhuvudtaget förstår jag inte. De slarvade ju bort hela 3D konceptet. Precis som Synon skriver, den här kan man gott se i 2D

Hoffman passade inte alls in som den nya Jigsaw, han slarvade för mycket.

Fick i alla fall reda vem Jill gav det vadderade kuvertet till i förra filmen, och det var var en AHA upplevelse.

Nu när jag tänker efter så kunde de ha slutat med förra filmen och lagt till vem som fick det vadderade kuvertet bara.

Läste precis uppgifter från US Box Office (5-7 november) och SAW 3D rasar på listan... Lutar åt samma dåliga resultat som sexan gjorde och med detta kan vi nog vara säkra på att detta blev den sista filmen i franchisen. Synd att den inte slutar med flaggan i topp...
